The controllers were done in pastel. I did the actual pastel artwork about 3 months back, but I always felt that the piece would be complete if I digitally added some text effects to it.
I lightened up the light areas on the controllers in certain areas, as it would always end up too dark when I took pictures of it.
"Ignite your amusement" is an encouragement to play video games, as they do well in feeding one's creativity, amusement, and imagination (hopefully to one day be used in a more beneficial fashion ), but primarily amusement. A PS2 controller was used because the quote is synonymous to Sony's success at bringing video gaming from the "underground" (for lack of a better word) into the mainstream in a bigger way than other companies have done.
"Escape from Reality" is obviously a metaphor for how the experiences of playing games can be thought of as "going off in your own world", but it also points out the nature of online gaming, which further reinforces the ideal. Xbox can be best representative since it was among the first to have substantial online console gaming success, moreso than other companies, such as Sega.
Finally, "Expand your imagination" identifies what Video Gaming can play on one's imagination, since the games themselves are full of creative and artistic environments, sound, and gameplay. Best to represent is the Game Cube, because of Nintendo's obsession for being the more innovative company.
Cool. This is amazing. Are you an all-around type of artist? Because you are good. I saw the thumbnail version of this pic and I thought, 'Oh, it's an edited photograph.' Then when I clicked on it I was all like 'I can't believe it, he actually did this in pastels...' so yea. You rock, but you suck.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
